Not sure what is happening now. Dean is in Africa, not Europe, as some would suggest. He is taking a well-deserved and extremely well earned break and will be back in about a month. Until then, his communications are spotty and intermittent, at best.

Jae is now opening an new tapas restaurant at the old Banana Cantina location. It's called, "NU" Grand opening soon. It's in direct competition to Bruce's new tapas restaurant a block away, which is unofficially opening tomorrow.

Where is Bruce's new place??

Damn, you leave home for a day and the whole landscape shifts!

Well so far have been speaking to someone who I think is in GDL, they seem to know that the machine did not give me my money and are working on getting it back to me, they still say they offer a guarantee on the service.

If I get my money back in the next day or so it will still be much faster than dealing with a fraud inquiry that takes 45-60... days thru the normal banks, but I have to be honest the machines have been less than 100% these day, but I just assumed it was summer time. No local office would add up

hoping the next post is " got my money back"

If you come to the board meeting on Friday, Brian, the repair man for Cashola will probably be there. He has rarely missed a meeting. He knows how to get the money. Dean would help but he really is on safari in Africa. He needed a break. He still owns 1/3 interest in the company and he would follow through on any problem. I'm prejudiced, of course, because he is a friend...

It's a bitch to lose your money in a machine but don't give up hope.

I noticed on another forum that false rumors and fears are being spread about this ATM business.

Dean has sold 2/3 of his interest in Cashola. The new majority owner is consolidating the Mexican offices. The main office for Cashola has always been in DF and will continue to be. Except for maintenance, the Vallarta office is apparently being closed.

The ATM machines, themselves, are being updated with newer models (they are like computers and new models are constantly being introduced). This is good.

Brian, the ATM repair guy for Dean, is here and, as far as I know, he has to stay here. This is good.

This was no conspiracy as some suggest on other forums. Dean is just moving on to new interests. We all do that some times. That he gave no advance notice to certain local drunks who are complaining about its lack is no indication of anything besides good business practices.

We used one of Cahsola's ATMs the other day and it worked the same as before.

Rumor heard on Amapas street recently is that Bruce is taking over the Don Guacamole location.
I also heard about the reopening of a new-named restaurant at the Fuego/Banana Cantina location,
in October. I was told that Debbie Egan still owns the location and is renting to a previous
employee, maybe that is Jae. Just rumor, wait and see, always interesting to see changes.

And we went to Bruce's secret grand opening last night.

Poco Limon is behind La Piazzetta and La Bohemia restaurants in the "Don Juan Guacamole" location. It can seat over 100 and it is an established restaurant location. The food is about the same as Teatro Limon but with some less expensive dishes added. He still has the very expensive service available (last night someone was served a 38 ounce, 2" thick, 500 peso steak). The drinks are on the high side (70 pesos for house rum and coke, for instance) and the cerveza, in a can, is 30 pesos. His "happy hour" will be from 2-4 pm.

Because this place is new, everything is subject to change. He says he will officially be open next Tuesday.

The location is great and the atmosphere is quite special, especially at night.

And the Fuego, Banana Cantina location is opening as "NU" probably early in November. It is owned by Jae Palsce. She did used to be Debbie's business manager at the Banana Cantina. More recently she was Dean's executive secretary at Cashola ATM. She has also been the business manager of Club Manana. To say that she is well qualified is a gross understatement.

If I were ever running a real business here in Vallarta, Jae would definitely be my first choice for a manager.

NU will be sort of a tapas restaurant/bar.
