I do not recall seeing ABM's, however we were not really looking for them. We had a few thousand peso's left over from the year before, however we used very little cash from the border to PV. Hotels, restaurants, Pemex and customs all accepted Mastercard.

I should also say that it is recommended to pay your car deposit by credit card as it is easier for customs to refund the deposit.

We crossed the border back into the states on Saturday March 31, 2012 and my Mastercard statement showed that the car deposit refund was credited to my account on Monday April 2, 2012.

Nobody looked at or asked for our tourist visas and we still have them.

I was able to get pesos at the Wells Fargo bank in Nogales before crossing. It does take about 30 minutes, so go early to the bank (or late in the day) the day before you cross. If you have a US bank, you can email them ahead, and they'll have pesos set aside for you. The reason this is a good idea is they are limited on how many pesos you can get. You will need pesos for the toll roads (cuotas)...no USD or CD taken.

Didn't even think about the toll roads. Do you remember about how much you spent to get to PV?

There is a web site that gives you the most direct route, approximate gas price and the location of tolls as well as the amount. It is applicaciones4.sct.gob.mx or google "route to route". I just plugged in Nogales, Son and La Cruz, Nyarit and got $1113 pesos for tolls. I do remember there was one toll that was 5 pesos different than the route site showed. Anyway, this was really good for route planning as well, as we could see about how many km's we could do in a day and check which cities were close to the driving route. Hope this helps. :D
