Jeez, Denny. Next thing you will want a grounding system. And, good one, Sarah.

When I first bought this house I could not find, in all of Vallarta, 3 prong electrical outlets. I had to bring them down with me from the States. None of the wiring in any building I had seen was of the 3 wire type. No color coding of the wiring was evident. My construction guys had never even heard of anyone wanting to have the wiring inside of the walls instead of using a lamp cord stretched between exposed outlets.

This has all changed now except that Mexico does not use the 3 wire system. Modern codes in many parts of the world have gone back to the 2 wire system.

MORDIDAS UPDATE:
The colonia president is the only signature we still need to get on our neighborhood petition and today she said that not only will she sign it, but she will also be happy to go with us to the city offices to help get things ratified.

The only glitch is that Sarah is leaving to visit her kids for a bit over a week and she can't go to the office until she comes back.

So it looks like we'll be cutting it pretty close for a November 3 grand opening, even if there are no further delays. We will have a party here on that date even if we are not "open."

PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT

It doesn't matter if you have the best outlet if you don't have a motherfucking, lifesaving ground wire.

I'm going to go to Home Depot tomorrow and ask for one of those.
