That reminds me of what someone told me in Rome. Apparently, there are so many buried artifacts, which have been left over the centuries, that when an Italian construction crew accidentally discovers a new site, they will sometimes try to hide their find and continue on with the construction. Otherwise, the archaeologists will be called in by the gov't and construction will be delayed for many months.
