Dehumidifiers

Postby GillWoods » Sun Sep 09, 2012 6:57 pm

We want to put a dehumidifier in our unit, probably just in the Master Bedroom bath. something we can leave running
while we're gone for the next few months, without worrying about emptying a holding tank. I noticed that the ones at Home Depot, mention 30 and 40 liter capacity. I hoped to find something that could just drain down the shower drain.

Several people in our building have them, but they aren't in residence at the moment to ask them.

GW: on most units you can remove the reservoir and connect a hose on the small pipe that the water drips out of. Make sure to put a little clamp to hold the hose on to this pipe!!! Also check if there is a trip switch that the reservoir pushes against when in place? You will have to keep that engaged with something.
Don't be shocked too much when you see your hydro bill when you return tho, these things suck a bit of juice and will run non stop!

You could also use a plug in timer that you can set to run as long as you want in a 24 hour period (half hour increments). Make sure it's rated above the amp draw of the dehumidifier. I think Home Depot sells a G.E timer good for 15 amps.
