Cob houses

I am wondering if anybody in more rural areas is into building with cob.
I have seen a few seminars and even a house in Zipolite that was built for a family of 7.
Seems very interesting.

People use cement here. It's much more stronger, efficient and inexpensive.

In baja I am seeing a lot of the cell foam construction. It goes up fast and has a very high R value.
Cinder block is everywhere, though, and relatively inexpensive.

Building requirements are much different in the tropics than notb. R values are meaningless. Most of the native construction here is geared towards protection against water and humidity, not against temperature. Only the wealthy here need to worry about temperature and they use the most modern, expensive construction materials and methods available, not caring at all about ecological matters except as status symbols.
