Cliff Barney and Carolina McMcCall, long time residents of Yelapa, have a piece on the village in banderasnews.com. He did the writing, she the illustrations, and it is a must read and see.

that was a very interesting read.. i will never forget my first yelapa experience as a younger man 10 years ago.. i went there with another friend to experience an event that we heard talked about a lot back then. The Full Moon party....Apparently this event wasnt celebrated on the calender full moon ...so we missed it by a day..LOL...!
my friend and i pitched a tent on a high mound up on the beach...an old man came to my friend who was american/mexican and told him in spanish if we would like to rent a hut from him..we said no thanks that we had brought a tent..he warned us "that the ocean..she gets angry sometimes" we thought..what the heck does that mean ?and laughed it off.
We had fun meeting up with other people that night, drinkin and story telling, trying to navigate the river with just a candle(what a chore that was..especially on the return trip when even more sauced),trying to navigate through the village which seemed really confusing in the dark, and then partying hard at this infamous yacht club we heard all about! I remember thinking to myself ..."why are we climbing so high up if this is a yacht club...lol"
then at about 6 or 7 in the am.very tired and hung over we found out what the old man was talking about...the high tide came and we were awakened by our tent being lifted and we were floating away ...so we had to wake very quickly and jump out and drag our tent away before all was soaked or lost with the next set of big waves.
anyways that was my first yelapa experience,i went back one more and that time i did take the advicce of the old man and we rented huts back behind the beach...was great times...always wanted to go back and see how it has changed there ,especially since the intro of power..i always tell my wife we will go and we never do ...maybe next year we can and we can get our book signed by "the captain"!!! :D
Procrastination.....is like masturbation......it's good in the beginning...but in the end,you realized you've just fucked yourself !!!

Yup, my memories go back 30 years ago. What an experience it was then
