Opinions about San Sebastien??

Postby Dcardova » Wed Feb 25, 2009 9:26 am

I am looking for people who have been to San Sebastien, ideally even a few times. I am interested in learning more about it..opinions, feedback, perspectives, etc etc. Are you willing to share your thoughts? What you liked? Anything and everything? :) Thanks in advance for your time!

I have been there and I think it is too far to go for such a small place. Not much going on.

I think the answer depends on why you're asking. Are you considering a day drip, a few days or moving there? And what are you hoping to get out of it? Lot's of action or a laid-back environment? Let us know more about your what you're seeking and we can give a better answer.

I quite enjoyed it there. I am sure the company I had had a lot to do with it.
If you like a bit of history & culture, good food and a rustic place to stay I would by all means recommend going over night. It is a bit of a drive.
JR's friends who have an Italian restaurant there are wonderful folks and have amazing food.
Nights can get quite cold as you are at a relatively high altitude. The weather can change with very little warning

Click on the link below and then the San Sebastian Album and you will get a bit of a visual.

The first half of the show is the trip up there. Disregard the condition of the road. We just happened to go through shortly after a massive rock slide. The rest is some sights of the town itself.
I do apologize for the, as my girl just put it to me, "the 70's porn music" that accompanies the slide show.

If you are looking for chachkas, forget it. It is an old silver mining town that has lost 90% of its population.
