imss pension

i get a pension check from imss every month
not much
just to buy some grub
just checked my bank statement online this morning
and wow
double the normal pension check
so it must be aguinaldo time
a x-mas bonus

So this is similar to the US social security? I wonder how it compares and how many people here get it.

Sarah, my understanding is that it is similar to Social Security and is paid to every person over the age of 60 who has had an employer pay into the system. When we did the addition to our house and had to make regular payments for insurance for the workers, part of that went into the "social security" benefit for seniors. I would love to know more about the system though, so if anyone else has information, please post. And correct me if my information is wrong.
