Way too many familiar faces from our earlier years are passing away these days:

While not famous...my better half's mother passed away in April. My best friend passed away in January.
Very dear friends just left for Ontario as her father is terminal. Another good friend albeit 12 years older than I will likely die this year (booze related).
I was saying to someone the other day that we are at the age where we are either going to friends kids weddings or friends parents funerals.

:(
I always take life with a grain of salt, ...plus a slice of lime, ...and a shot of tequila.

Welcome to the third age, tercera edad. It is a very different space, as most discover in their early 50's. Our culture does not deal well with death and dying and aging. We do not value the last segment of our lives, it is viewed as a decline, but there are hidden opportunities. It is a sad time in so many ways, as our connections disappear and energy and drive are drained. It can be bleak, as we all watch treasured people leave us forever. It is a good time to discover the value of camaraderie.
