Sayonara to a Toronto icon - Sam Sniderman - I bet many members have been in the Yonge store . The funeral is on my route tomorrow at 9:30 . A sad day in Toronto .

He had a location on Seymour St in Vancouver. I spent a lot of money in that store in my youth, along with the neighbouring A&B Sound.

Ironically, the location is now an art gallery which is one of my clients.

I too spent a lot of money at Sam's in my teen years. And, my late husband was an old friend of Sam's. And in one of those weird "degrees of separation" thingies, my husband's second wife had been married to Sam's brother, a (now long deceased)musician who had been partners of Sam's.

I met him many times, and he was such a knowledgable person about whatever had just come out in terms of the music scene.

The location on Yonge Street was iconic beside A&A and they kept prices down.

(As an aside, A&A picked that name to be the first record retailer in the Yellow Pages. All anachronisms now.)
