Need Sailfish Roe Recipe

Postby GeckoS » Wed Oct 31, 2012 9:29 am

Some friends caught a sailfish, A dorado and a skip jack. They did a big fish feast. Brenda fried the roe in garlic butter. It was good but we need a better recipe. There are still a few lbs of roe left. I have googled sailfish roe with no results. There are lots of other fish roe recipes, though. Any suggestions?

In England I remember canned roe, which was what I think is called "hard roe" - not the shiny eggs. My mum used to put it on toast and grill it - very good topped with a little vinegar. Did you find the Wikipedia info on Roe. It talks about how roe is eaten around the world....but not specifically sailfish. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roe Interesting - thanks.

Interesting dilema , I bet that would even stump the Iron Chefs . I was thinking wrapped in a tortilla with some peppers and veggies of choice - deep fried - authentic PV egg roll . If you have any to spare - you would make many neighbourhood Cats very happy .

There were two of these sacs. Brenda pulled the membrane off, cut it in 1/2" slices and fried it. I will check out the wiki link.
