Progress on Al Mar Hotel-near Vallarta Shores

Postby Russ Parsons » Sun Sep 02, 2012 1:24 pm

Years ago in 1995 when I was studying at UAG (Universidad Autonoma de Guadalajara) my friends and I would go to Meza del Mar for the weekends. I know it was sold then closed about 2 years ago for a major remodel. Even though, I now stay in condos when I visit I'm still interested in knowing is construction progressing or any other info on the hotel?

Is this an ad or a joke?

Nothing has been done at the Meza Hotel site since the hotel was stripped to the concrete walls
and columns. It is empty and ugly. The website for the new Almar Resort has disappeared.

It is no joke to those of us who own condos across the street at Villa Santa Barbara.
We have not been able to get info about why they are not working on the new hotel.

The Meza family owns a condo building under construction on the north side of VSB called
Amapas 353 and the architect there has met with VSB owners and told us that the
hotel belongs to one Meza brother and his project is owned by another brother but
he wasn´t able to give us any info about the hotel.

On a positive note, the beach in front of Meza and beside VS is quiet and available for day trippers. It is a great stretch of beach.

Thanks everyone for the info on the now stripped hotel. Too bad, I thought that the the project probably was not progressing. I look forward to returning to Vallarta possibly this December since I have not visited for about a year and a half when the demolition of much of the hotel had started and they were still working on the project. Hopefully they will get back to work soon and finish it since the architectural drawings look nice. I hope it isn't like VS nextdoor which was partially built around 1995 and not finished until years later.

Today I was reading usatoday.com when I noticed this ad on the home page.
you will notice that the photos on this site are fakes except for the first one of the exterior
of the hotel which is the one they used on the almarresort.com site, now gone.

to add to the confusion, this site is still advertising the Meza del Mar Hotel
